I started working here right after it happened, and there was outrage from the rich bible thumpers that they aren’t being executed. It makes me sick. How is it okay to say someone is an adult when it comes to punishment, but not an adult when it comes to literally anything else? Of course they do. Because the public would be outraged if a child offender’s punishment was decided by a court specifically created to deal with child offenders. Because the public is an asshole.

I looked it up, apparently any kid older than TEN who is on trial for murder or attempted murder gets tried as an adult in Wisconsin. Let that shit sink in for a minute.

Also instead of people, it’s entire countries whom I’m sure are just tickled pink about being publicly threatened like that. I’m sure working with the international community will be so easy now, and for years to come.

The House passed a short-term spending measure today, before departing from the holidays, in order to prevent a partial government shutdown. The stopgap keeps the government funded until January 19, as well as providing short-term funding for the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP).
