Not from Japan, at least that I can tell.

But your comment does remind me of a story I heard recently about schools somewhere (Iran? India? New Jersey?) barring students from wearing socks. The logic, I guess, is that they'd stay cooler on their own and A/C wouldn't be as critical or expensive. Could it work?

And eat a lot of spirulina . . . .

Do it — please, please do it! And take photos.

I'll help you pay the contempt fine . . . .

I think so! And maybe a cool old camera too . . .

Hey Lawyerin' Men of Tennessee! This is for you!

Robert Pack? Chris Jackson? Bryant Stith? A backcourt to love . . . .

Kidding aside, I'd heard that Josh took particular interest in basketball, leaving the Nuggets in fairly good Kroenke standing. (Not so much for the Avs and Arsenal, apparently.) But this offseason reeks of over-confidence and over-meddling. I

So they're hiring Paul Westphal and bringing back LaPhonso Ellis?

(Kidding aside, the Kroenkes are idiots in every way, right?)

I've heard those criticisms of Karl in lots of places, but I'd love a couple of examples if you have them. I don't doubt that they're out there. I just don't know what they are . . . .

You're surely right about Karl's impact. You're right too that they'll likely miss Ujiri, all the more because he'll surely be replaced (in substance, if not in form) but Josh Kroenke. Membership has its privileges . . . .

But perhaps not its championships. Which of their stable of teams — the Rams, the Avs, the

I think I agree, though I don't know enough about Ujiri's role / genius / acumen to judge completely. Whatever the case, Karl can coach.

Followup question: Are the Kroenkes as bad as it seems? Or are they worse?

I liked it better when people in Texas were talking about secession . . .

But don't worry: Demographics are destiny — and they don't favor the Texas GOP . . . .

Great month for the Nuggets. Really and truly great. (Or as they say in Denver, five weeks until training camp!)

But which do you think hurts the most? The loss of:

(1) Ujiri?

(2) Karl?

Thank you.

What a terrific batch of lists. Thank you for sharing them with me.

But does this mean you don't like Ford's Independence Day? (Katie Roiphe just put it on her list of great books for airplane reading, which could be a blessing or a curse.)

I thought about heading out to Tokyo to try this, but travel is hard, and I didn't want to catch the red eye . . . .

She grins back cruely, her perfect teeth gleaming like razor blades.

Discouraging indeed — even for someone who didn't attend.

But wasn't UofC a terrific school, even when it was the place where fun went to die? (And I use that term advisedly, knowing that the school had a terrible rash of suicides not terribly long ago, right?) I mean, wasn't the faculty still incredible and the

I don't know how liberal and / or progressive Chicago is, relative to its peers at least.

But I do know that it's a terrific school. Should I be surprised that idiots like these jokers — who think that this is acceptable and humorous — could get in?

It took you all day to come up with that?

I weep — we *all* weep — for your clients.

And I cringe to think of what grades you got in Fed Courts and Civ Pro . . . .

(Don't tell anyone, okay — but that's the joke . . . )

Just a guess, but I think — based on the photographic evidence — it's Royal Prat.
