The things you’re talking about aren’t a concern for work truck owners.

Its physics buddy - more weight is going to require more energy to move. That directly translates to less distance driven for electric cars. Adding larger batteries can increase distance, but it comes with the devil’s bargain of adding more weight.

Thats never been the case with things like flush door handles or falcon doors.  Elon most definitely does things for the sake of cool factor.

Engineers that are trying to save costs use commodity components.  They don’t get creative and build something that nobody has built before.  The actual cost of building this truck can be obscenely high because there are unknown unknowns associated with manufacturing a stainless steel unibody electric truck. 

And painting stainless steel is more expensive.

There is no fucking math on the planet that supports the notion that cost savings on paint is why they have a triangle made of stainless steel.

If they wanted to build a cheap truck with batteries, cybertruck was not the way to go.

I returned a model 3 for this exact reason. Within three days it went from smelling like a new car to smelling like an uber. By contrast, my BMW with full leather started to get that rich, savory scent you only get from real animal hide.

I don’t believe for one second you’ve felt the love of an E36 if you think that car is more reliable then any modern BMW.
