This is the basic economic concept of opportunity cost, something I wish Lifehacker would do an entire article on. I learned about it as a freshman in college and it has changed my perspective ever since.
Win.
I absolutely, 100% do not... I was sued by the RIAA in college so if I ever get caught again it is even more trouble for me.
Cool Zero!!! FTW!!!1! interwebz!
No worries - this is the same as the "official release" that comes out next week, just earlier for those of us who don't like waiting. Apple gives it out to the developers earlier than the general public for testing their apps, etc.
Only if it comes with an attachable wrist strap. Then I'm sold!
Shag carpet?
Win.
I for one find this hilarious - thanks Kyle! People who complain about "journalism" must not find humor in anything written ever. Get over yourself and laugh a little bit. Life is too short to be so cynical at any age.
Exposed pins? Might make it dangerous to just "throw in the bag" if they get scratched easily... hmmmm
Too long, didn't read.
Ba-zing!
I just want to say this is a very well written article. I like reading a lot of the articles but this was well stated, concise enough and broad enough, and with enough intrigue to keep me reading every line through the end. Thanks for this perspective!
Sorry for being naive, but how is Vivent better (not trolling, inquiring)? It seems like each piece is more expensive (i.e. $20 for a door sensor from Iris vs 60 from Vivent) as is the overall monitoring ($10 vs $50-60), or am I just missing something obvious?

I was thinking the same thing, especially with the recent rumors!
+10 to you, sir.
Minimalists. I like to think I am one. I don't need a powerhouse computer that can do everything. I use it as my sole work computer; it runs Parallels Win7 and OS X flawlessly together. I have had no hangs/hiccups/slow downs but I do sit in Office for the majority of my work (outside of some browser testing). I guess…
