For me the Technic line is about what’s inside, rather than the finish. I agree LEGO System excels at detailed finishing, and this set doesn’t do that to the game extent. But it’s a Technic set... for us Technic fans the fact this has a working transmission/gearbox inside which attracts the likes of me to these sets.

I entirely see you point, but as a former LEGO System fan who made a violent and absolute swerve to LEGO Technic a few years back, for me these kits are much more about the functions than the finish.
