The self-misrepresentation of influencers, and the effect of that on their devotees, is absolutely a problem to the extent it leads to unrealistic expectations. Those unrealistic expectations can manifest in all kinds of accidental or intentional self-harm or psycho-emotional problems.

I think it’s perfectly ok for As the World Kerns to say they would consider it abusive. But to project what or how we feel onto others is, I think, inappropriate and, as you say, risks diluting the meaning of important terms. We all have different thresholds and tolerances for these things.
