I agree with most of this except - I never feel like I can get drunk if I'm eating at the same time. If I go out to dinner and want to get tipsy, I've got to drink most of my drink before the meal comes, because drinking concurrently with food completely makes it impossible for me to get drunk.

There was a huge 90 minute documentary about Absinthe on netflix... cool stuff. I don't remember what it was called, I saw it a while ago and netflix tends to rotate their stock. It was totally worth seeing though.
I actually did some research on this- Absinthe, with thujone (the good stuff, coming from wormwood) IS legal in the states. And most name brand absinthes (lucid, etc...) are made with thujone and wormwood. It's just regulated by the FDA, so the absinthe makers can't put too much of it in there.
