It’s the cheap plastics the manufacturer used. Audis and VWs around that time were notorious for bad window regulators.

I replaced the t-stat, chain guides, secondary injector, 8 coils and lord knows what else. I must have paid for that thing in parts and labor three times.

Right before I got rid of mine it was throwing a CEL. Went to my shop and after two days they couldn’t find the issue. They cleared the code and asked what I owed them. “Oh nothing. You’ll be back”
