If you're going to bother to go through the trouble of learning to burn and use a boot cd, you might as well use Hiren's, contains not only memtest86, but about 30-40 other diagnostic and repair utilities of all sorts. I find it an invaluable tool for repairing computers, and clients think I'm a hard core hacker.
