I mostly agree, although, there are elderly folks and those with other comorbidities, such as diabetes, that may not fair well, either. That being stated, I would venture to guess that most people have been exposed to some flavor of Covid by now, whether they presented symptoms or not.

In fact, most people who are getting BA.5 infections are people who had not previously had COVID.

We were discussing specific vaccines, not vaccines in general.  

It’s generally better to be vaccinated because it’s been shown to reduce infection and transmission more so than being unvaccinated.

That is typically how many vaccines work, but as was proven during the Omicron wave, that is not how these vaccines work. As Beth stated, they do not prevent you from catching the virus. How are you less likely to pass it on, if you are vaxxed?  It doesn’t work that way.  If you aren’t showing symptoms, then, sure, you aren’t passing it along as effectively as if you were.  Same is true of unvaxxed that aren’t showing symptoms.

Add to this that age, obesity and overall health seem to play a pretty big role in the severity of the effects of the virus.

The industry that I worked in, K12 education, took a massive hit. Suddenly students were no longer in school, if they even left their homes at all. It wasn’t long before my tech job in that industry became obsolete, and I found myself at home doing nothing, waiting for a future that I had no road map for.
