I can understand being a fan of the show and taking offense to many, many people like me who are hate-watching but you can't seriously be comparing the amateur hour writing troupe that is TWD to the list of names above. They may use flashbacks but the Sasha stuff was not narrative suspense, it was just boring.

It's old fashioned Americana so it is supposed to connect TWD to things like Night of the Living Dead to give it the same "feel." Then they just attach it to a character. It's kind of like how every house they walk into has no signs of modern anything, just doilies and puzzles.

It's a repeating problem on this show. Characters can only remember the last two characters who died, that goes up exponentially when they were fucking each other for two seconds. Maggie forgot she had a sister for an entire season. Rosita suddenly was super concerned and irrationally defensive of Spencer, etc.
