I would imagine a difference in how political campaigns are funded compared the US is a factor.

"Everyone knows my religious beliefs, but it is not for political leaders to impose our beliefs. We must push for progress in civil and human rights for all citizens equally. As Governor of Puerto Rico, that's my duty."
I love how she's mad at her 5th grade education. If she didn't have to tip, there would never be another instance in her whole life where a percentage needed to be calculated.
Seriously - I get freaking sick and tired of hearing people complain about how they never use all that math they were forced to learn in school. If tipping (or not-tipping, as the case may be) is the only time you use percentages, then your life is an endless wasteland of nothingness (possibly a slight hyperbole).
How many times can it be said that if you can afford to eat out, you can fucking afford to tip? Not enough times, apparently. Jeebus. I love to tip. I loooooove it. I feel frickin' righteous about it. Sometimes, I tip my barista FIFTY percent, btw, even though she or he has spent a mere 60 seconds on my dirty chai tea…
My favorite part of the paleo thing is all the white people whining about how their bodies just haven't "evolved" to eat grain or wheat, which their ancestors have been relying on as a critical part of their diet for thousands of years. Meanwhile they will make foods like squash, tomatoes, peppers, blueberries, etc.—…
It's like everything that is technological progress scares hippies (vaccines, agricultural advancement, GMOs) and everything that is social progress scares conservatives. I want them to fight in a cage death match as to who is most afraid of change.
Yeah it is kind of funny how you have two groups, the far left and the far right, but they both harken back to the good old days: the far right has the 1950s, which sucked in that everyone who wasn't male, white, Christian and straight was completely screwed (not that things have completely improved but that's a story…
They can take all the poison foods from my cold dead hands. I love how they are all "well this is how paleolithic people ate!!!!" LOL okay I think they just ate whatever they could get their hands on. Most of it wasn't organic kale.
Well, considering the only known cure for autism is death, maybe that's the point...
(Wasn't that the anti-communist slogan back in the 50s?)
I'm certainly not defending the right wing or calling them reasonable, I'm just trying to Police Our Own and all that. I'm so tired of this stupid lazy idea we've developed that expressing outrage over some perceived injustice, or being "correctly" offended by some offensive thing in and of itself has moral worth.
You are right. The goose deserved it. The farmed animal just had bad luck.
We didn't claw our way to the top of the food chain to take shit from some asshole geese.
I have literally no sympathy whatsoever for Canada Geese. If someone wants to, to pick a completely random example off the top of my head, hit one with a javelin, I'm totally OK with that.
This is a great argument, in an exchange about animal torture. But we're talking about a fatal wound caused by physical exertion, you shrink-wrap-loving supermarket-browsing hipster douchehole.
there are plenty of things you can do if you're actually interested in correcting or mitigating potential ecological problems.
nah I was totally polite about it, I asked the goose to stop shitting on the field nicely before resorting to the javelin.
It didn't die, just flew away. And I think there are plenty of good reasons to drive invasive species that don't belong in your habitat (at least not during all seasons) away, even if you need to kill them to do so.
