How is it that the arcs of the MCU and DCEU have diverged so widely?

Let me get this straight: they gave Zack Snyder six hours and an additional $70M to shit the bed (after giving Whedon an additional $20M to also shit the bed), but now they’re worried about quality!?!

GoT had a perfect sequel/spin-off set up with Arya sailing off to explore the world. If Maisie didn’t want to reprise the role, just hire a few other people to play the character since Arya can now change her face/appearance. Explore new places and dive into the lore of the world outside Westerose.

I keep saying it (and I know I’ll keep getting countered) but I’m so fed up of prequels. Why can’t we just have new stories set AFTER the existing one; why do we need to go back and see something that already happened?
