Lower Decks is only ~20 minutes long so it’s not like it’s a sedate, ponderous show itself. But somehow it manages to both be in keeping with the show’s exploratory heritage - while also having breakneck pacing and explosions everywhere. It ain’t a meditative show, or “rehashing” (bar the sometimes egregious easter

EVERYTHING in this show seems hell-bent on being an 11 at all times: the plot; the emotions; the twists. Nothing is EVER underplayed, on the page or the faces of the actors - and it’s an exhausting show to watch because of this.

Discovery gets a mention, as a case in point, in this video I came across yesterday.

Look, I like Discovery. I do. But maybe every season doesn’t need a civilization ending threat to it.

Maybe some seasons could just mostly be Starfleet geeks doing what Starfleet geeks do and finding new stuff to explore and study or visiting previous planets to see what they’re doing 900 years in the future? What’s

DST is an opportunity totally missed:

Shelter Cat Update!

What? He was awesome as super bitchy Thranduil. And he brought the exact right mix of arrogance and stupidity for Ronan IMO.

As much as I loved Season 4 of Enterprise, I feel like this is the only explanation we should have ever gotten about Klingon head ridges.

Dax could be such a colossal troll. That might have been one of the best parts of her character.

This episode is proof positive that Matt Jeffries’ designs can still hold up under modern special effects, and there was NO NEED WHATSO-@#$%&ING-EVER to redesign everything in Discovery.

The moment when I died watching this episode. I do so love how Dax KNEW she looked cute as hell and used it to destroy Sisko and company cuz it was fun.

I mean, there’s a reason Contagion was a number-one rental in the early stages of the pandemic; just as some people prefer their media to pivot away from reality, and others prefer running full-tilt towards it.

Any fictional story about a pandemic that doesn’t include a bunch of idiots running around licking doorknobs to own the libs just doesn’t seem realistic enough.

It takes some guts to see Jason Momoa nude and decide making fun of him is the correct course of action. No smarts, but lots of guts.

I mean, the show needed an everything coordinator, really.

The ruin of all franchises is JJ Abrams, and I won’t hear otherwise.

To be fair, nine yards is a lot of commitment.

I sometimes wonder how those meetings with Extremely Influential People must feel like for the legal team. I work in PR and it’s really difficult when the client comes in and wants to make an incredibly stupid decision, and all we can do is counsel against it/suggest alternatives, but ultimately we either have to do

Is it possible to feel aggressively, violently, out-of-control “meh” about something?
