I mean, okay. But at what point does “grooming” then mean nothing at all beyond just being manipulative?

Daniel Pollack, a professor at Yeshiva University and expert witness on child abuse, tells Rolling Stone that while grooming is often associated with the sexual abuse of minors, the term also can apply to adults. At its core, grooming involves targeting an often vulnerable person and gaining their trust, only to

What I’m wondering is: why, at this point, is anyone in Hollywood not just constantly operating under the assumption that everyone (except for like Tom Hanks I guess) is a total creep?

Yeah, but the issue is that when you are a director on a set, there is a tremendous power differential. You basically are everyone’s boss, and if you pursue relationships with people “below” you, you are leveraging that power in inappropriate interpersonal ways. It’s abuse. And in current Hollywood, this is gendered

That’s the point though, the whole “never complained before” is so utterly terrible as an attempted defence because of course there’s literally a time no one complained.

He’s mocking those comedians.

I love him so much. He’s one of the best stand-ups working today, hands down.

What does that have to do with anything? He opened the door to being judged by ‘conventional’ beauty standards. And by those standards he is ugly as fucking hell.

I saw this description elsewhere on the interwebs but it described him as: “Looking like one of Dracula’s henchmen that gets sent to the hospital to steal blood” and it’s 100% accurate.

I feel like they could have gotten Hugh Jackman in that time period and with Baz Luhrman directing and doing interesting visuals it could have been something.

Will anyone outside of L.A. find the subject interesting?

She very well could have seen what happened with Pam and Tommy and decided that she was better off at least making some money from the whole thing. “Signed off on” isn’t the same as “Will be happy with”.

Crawford would’ve been in his early 60s at the time. It’d be a stretch even for that film. Plus, by that point, the Phantom had become what he was never supposed to be— the sexy, misunderstood star.

Yeah, she was about to be The Next Big Thing after her role in Mystic River, which she was following up with 3 would-be blockbusters (Phantom of the Opera, Poseidon, and The Day After Tomorrow). Of course, all of those underperformed. So her next credit was Dragonball Evolution, which....uh....exists.

I really hope this lands big. Emmy Rossum is one of those actors who absolutely should be a star, but just hasn’t quite landed that project that matches her skills. Phantom of the Opera *should* have made her, but it was badly done, and the Phantom miscast. Shameless was career best work for her, but it was hampered

An utter shame. Saved by the Bell was a delight.

“Saved by the bell” is a boxing idiom, so the headline should have been “Peacock KOs Saved By the Bell”. The “condemns” thing makes it sound like the idiom is about, like, executions.

One thing that I can say for Tyler Perry is that he is one of the few people outside of sports where I genuinely dislike his body of work, but also genuinely respect his drive/hustle at the same time. He took what he wanted to do and found his audience and made it work. Much respect.

The NFL doesnt give a flying fart about the players either - use  them up and discard them.   Plenty more waiting in the wings

I cant even imagine why anyone would watch this. But I feel the same way about football. Cheerleaders remind me of the song Why Do Little Girls by Harry Chapin
