Your mental health is paramount. Put that first, and start putting out your résumé. It’s too bad you’re not able to do just school by itself, but this job won’t do. You have to get another one.

Oh my goodness Jezzies, I have been waiting for this all week! I need some advice.
Many great points. But yes, the insistence on seeing racism as an individual “thought crime” rather than something that is widespread and systemic is truly insidious. It’s one of the things that bothers me most about the whole “did Paula Deen say the n-word once 20 years ago” narrative. The bigger issue is that she…
But they almost always pick the “good” narrative that fits their theme or POV. One hour-long show usually includes stories of three to four guests. They have to pick one story and go with it because each guest’s story only gets probably less than 15 minutes air time.
It really is about protecting the brand as I don’t think that “facts” were violated in this particular situation. They chose not to reveal certain facts is all. That said, The minor shit-storm that erupted was good and well warranted.
Yeahhhh, a word to the wise . . . the morning-after pill does not always work, much like regular birth control pills. I have known people that still got pregnant while taking them, myself included.
I teach Mockingbird. I am black and southern. I never thought an Atticus Finch would have had me over for dinner. Yet, I’ve had white students identify with this character and want to believe so badly that they too would be the heroic, bucking the system, society-be-damned progressive during that era. No one wants to…
from Ava DuVernay:
White people pretending to be black is so not weird though. They've been doing it for AGES. Jordan over on Gawker is even trying to compile something like a master list of it.
This is extremely important. Whether you think it is “bad art” or not this is fucking important. When a rape victim story is ever put out for public consumption the general consensus is that people feel like they have a right to know exactly what happened, that if they could they should basically have video access to…
Dads, having more kids will not increase your dadness. You have a fixed amount of dad, and you have to dad it equally among all your kids. Just dad a small daddable group of kids, and each kid will get more dad. That’s just sensible dadmath.
Different strokes for different folks I guess. When I was growing up as a young girl in the late 70s early 80s she was one of the first tough female characters I saw. Yes she was vain, and way to into her ‘frogfriend’, she also was into karate, a savy business woman that talked about her billing and pay on a…
You’ve got a truly adorable boy there!
Showing off some advance popsicle eating skillz tho!
Like, I don’t. Seriously. I can’t even look directly at him most of the time, because its like staring into the sun.
Also, I have a billion pics like that where it looks like the kids aren’t the focus, but it’s because they decided to turn their heads at the last second. And I had a backyard like that - it was in the lowest income neighbourhood in town. Housing is cheap here. You could rent a duplex with a yard on welfare. It…
I’m here for the baby photos - don’t let me down commenters! Let the irony FLOW through you!
Interestingly, genetics doesn’t really make anybody “a quarter” anything, at least in DNA. You inherent exactly half your DNA from each parent, but its a tossup with half of their genes (inherited from their parents) they pass on to you.
First off, being “quarter Hawaiian and quarter Chinese” does not make you HALF Asian. Hawaiians are Polynesian, we are not Asian. Secondly, that history bit is misrepresented and portrays the US rather favorably compared to how it actually went down.
The British folks who “overthrew the monarchy” were not acting on…
