Absolutely the right take on this. I work at a Chev dealership, and seeing the salesmen try and sell this lukewarm baby stroller to families is just so so sad.

Not at all. I think journalists (and the public) have gotten used to 10 speed transmissions and 4 cylinders that pump out 300hp that by comparison they believe the 4Runner’s powertrain must feel like a dog. It definitely doesn’t. I had to floor it earlier today to get a head of a slow moving semi truck and it surged

I never understood this argument. You’re not buying a sports car. I own a 2012 4Runner. I don’t need it to be fast or have a lot of gears.

100% with you. I went from a Wrangler to a WRX, and will most likely go back to an off-road centric SUV for my next vehicle. I loved my JK Wrangler and still miss it, but I can’t build out the new JL Wrangler or JT Truck without hitting $50k which is insanity. I love everything about the 4Runner, except that it’s slow
