Was thinking this too. They mean to say Expensive GERMAN Cars are unreliable. You know, those guys revered for engineering and stuff. Funny Lexus doesn’t seem to have these problems.

    Peter Egan is fantastic

Yeah, that 4th to last shot is magazine worthy. Nice work, Andrew.

Is there a comment of the year category?

I realize this has been said 136 times in the comments, but Jalopnik needs more of this. It’s like a poor homeless man’s Top Gear, but 10x better.

    Timothy Olyphant as Bandit.

    This is a good suggestion.

Agree. The problem is, Burt’s role is tough to fill. Charismatic, fun, very believable as a car guy. Who fills that profile these days? Either you get goof ball fun guy (Seth Rogan, Vince Vaughn, etc) who could never be believed as serious drivers or you get the way too serious badass Fast and Furious guys who take

I agree with your overall premise, but some of the anti-Uber points are nonsense:

My takeaway: Police cars can go 150mph. Who knew?

I generally believe in erring on the light side of regulation, but the fact so much plastic gets used every day astonishes me. None of this stuff is every going away and yet we use more of it every day without a care.

This is a rabbit hole of epic proportions. We speak the English language, but do we need to speak all foreign proper nouns as they do (think, ‘Puerto Rico’ etc)? If so, shouldn’t it be ‘Volks vahgon’? How about foreign names on our own soil? Should it be ‘Day-twah’ for ‘Detroit’?

At some point in the last 15 years, everybody got really angry. Not really sure why. ‘Eager and happy’ went to ‘badass and menacing’. Case in point, the Toyota pickup:

Happy ignorance is bliss counterpoint: This thing looks great!

Unconventional wheel choice - I like it.

Fun Omni feature: You could shift it out of park without a key! All sorts of fun was had with my friend’s sister’s.

Why do you like reliable cars so much? Yeesh.

    I once owned an automatic.

I think we all want to know: how often ARE you diving at 300m?
