Dear women,
Dear women,
Yes I actually remember that article...but that was several years ago now and a totally different topic (or maybe sub-topic..still race...not sure). I also dont recall her speaking publicly about that public outcry, though it’s possible I just don’t remember. She has expressed herself extremely eloquently here and an…
I absolutely love this girl’s logic and intellect. I work for a university and run seminars on race, culture, appropiration and similar issues and I’ve never heard the idea of appropriation and why it’s problematic, presented better than this. I think it’s a shame that Jez decided to put this story on the same page as…
GOT DAAAMN!!!!...sorry, this woman just does that to me. I think he has a point that media places a premium on small blonde white women, but Serena can come visit me any time!
...also, it's very possible that you didn't have it as hard as black people who didn't grow up on welfare. Just sayin'.
She had no problem asserting herself and referring to Sway as "boy", though.
So Igloo's not the "realest", we all knew that already, but am I the only one heard her call him BOY? I know there are so many things wrong with this video and with her as an artist, but that really stuck out to me.
This article's author must live inside my head. As a black man who has been and still is, surrounded by "good white people," I can relate to everything the author is saying. Some of the comments are clear demonstrations of good white people not understanding the sentiment being expressed. The truth is that this is a…
I think this video is problematic for a number of reasons. First let me start by saying that I think street harassment is a real issue and no one (male or female) should have to deal with it. I admire Hollaback for taking the initiative to produce a video to bring attention to the problem, but this model supposedly…
So apparently you only get to enjoy the all the benefits of the ta ta top if you are white? Can we get these in shades that work for women of color? It seems like once again #solidarityisforwhitewomen
Calling him Mama Spike is demeaning, dismissive and disrespectful. The meme that it comes from is offensive. It appears to be perpetuated by black people in social media, but it is still offensive. Whether you agree with Spike or not, I would avoid using Mama Spike. As far as the gentrification, he pretty much told…
Thug life was a phrase popularized by Tupac Shakur (it was tatooed on his abdomen I think). The phrase is most often associated with rappers/rap music. It's true that there are other thug stereotypes (big italian guys with slicked back hair comes to mind) but the phrase is pretty obviously associated with black folks.
wow...this thought never occurred to me, but now that you have put it out there, I guess all I can say is HOLY SHIT THAT'S THE BEST FUCKING IDEA ON THE ENTIRE FUCKING INTERNETS!!!!! Kind of makes me wish I had some kind of say in hollywood. You are a genius!
I happen to be a black man and because of the texture of my hair, using any kind of metal blade on my face is a guarantee that I will get ingrown hairs and razor bumps for weeks. I use a depilitory cream (magic shave currently). It works kind of like nair. spread it on my face, wait, remove it. I have been able to…
