Rowling’s motivations continue to elude me. In the UK you are (mostly) entitled to your dumb opinions, but why burn through the goodwill of a fanbase that includes a significant number of queer and allied individuals by airing those dumb opinions publicly?

I saw this news on CNN earlier, and took issue with the press release notes that must have gone out, as this isn’t the first change to Chicken McNuggets. They switched to smaller, all-white-meat nuggets back in 2003; after excising dark meat, in 2016 they sent artificial preservatives packing as well.

And It’s not even an inventive reboot, it’s been done regularly now: find something upbeat or innocuous and make it dark, like that’s some unique innovation.

Is this how it felt to have grown up in the 80s and then seen the Michael Bay Transformers be awful? I’m just... I’m just watching my childhood here be torn apart and recreated into awful-sounding forms and I’m feeling a mixture of mad and sad but more than anything just old, and I don’t know how to deal with it.
