Problem there is while customers do want standardization, companies do not oblige because they make money off of proprietary guff. Because the only place you can get that stuff is straight from them. Yeah. Generally (it seems?) people will have two “consoles” per generation, if even that. And PC is often enough to be that second “console” (hence the quotation marks). And with PC, they aren’t paying fees to Microsoft, their competitor (unless they go with the windows store? ew).
