His past clearly wasn't a charmed life, and any child that has been shot at and stabbed BY THE AGE OF TEN clearly has some issues that they do not deserve to have.

I'd advise AGAINST buying Retron.

The Retron doesn't run games off of the cartridge; it flashes that cartridges ROM onto its' system and emulates it using old, outdated, and stolen emulators. The system is buggy, most of it's games use speedhacks, and its' up-scaling is terrible.
