@KatNZ: Cliff Curtis' career.
@KatNZ: Cliff Curtis' career.
@whatwouldjanedo: Actually, yes your original comment was. Unless you think that women who make the choice to have a hospital birth are all okay with their choice being called the "drug-up and shut-up birth plan." And I've not championed any method, either. A close reading of my comments would support this, largely…
@femme-bot: I MISSED IT ON TUMBLR?!! Man, I've been following the wrong people!
@femme-bot: Haha, whoops. I have a genuine excuse this time, though- my computer seems to have a panic attack every time i try open a new tag, and I couldn't handle the prolonged huffing and puffing while I waited for the page to load/the swirly circle to stop swirling.
@femme-bot: What is this from? I must steal and squirrel away, as I'm sure I'll find a use for this, some day!
Dodai, this is amazing- your points are compelling and well-argued, and I enjoyed reading this.
Pardon my ignorance, but is that really how the 1980 election swung? 'Cause, whoa!
@owlowlowl: Ha, yup. Dancing around inanely to T-Rex? One and the shameful same.
@whatwouldjanedo: Fuck that noise- my mother gave birth five times in a hospital, and each time she had both a midwife and an obstetrician with her. Her freaking choice. And I know she's not the only one, either. You're arguing in binaries, and your so-called 'sarcasm' is getting in the way of any actual point you…
Man, Girl Guide biscuits are so much more advanced in the States! Here, we have a choice of plain, chocolate-backed, plain minis, or chocolate-backed minis. And those last three are only recent additions; we didn't have them when I was still a Brownie!
@BabyJane: But I hate my Prada backpack!
@whatwouldjanedo: You know, I agree with all of that. What I took issue with was your description of the "hospital drug-up and shut-up birth plan." That's kind of hyper-offensive to women who do choose to give birth in a hospital or maternity home. Choice is as choice does, yo.
@littlemisslondon: No mother deserves a child like her, either!
@lauralauramc: Well she's still kind of new to the scene, isn't she? She should still count!
@greydove: God, they couldn't even get a Pacific Islander, either. And we're on the same ocean as Hollywood! And our people play your non-specific People Of Colour!
@Vivien Smith-Smythe-Smith: Also, I've always thought that the structure of old-fashioned crutches is beautiful. Not practical or comfortable to walk with, mind. They're just beautiful in the simplicity of their construction.
I was trying to make some pun about 'mummy benefits' that would lend coherency to the bandages and crutches theme, while also being a nod of recognition for single-parent and disabled beneficiaries, but then I realised that I was exercising my brain unduly, so I had to give in.
@Athensjail: erm, isn't she pushed over a balcony in the video clip? I thought the crutches/wheelchair part was supposed to show her as surviving and recovering from that, not imitating cerebral palsy.
@whatwouldjanedo: Holy unnecessarily abrasive remarks, Batman!
@kemperboyd: Ooh, maybe I went away for longer than I thought- boy is my face red! And I'm from NZ (GMT+12, suckaluckas), so I aaalways miss the threads, and I'm far less funny than MG or SoaLG, so you're in good company!
