Just pointing out that a brand badge alone typically isn’t a deterrent to people who place a high value performance.
Why wouldn’t they? People spend more than that for certain models of Corvette. And have you seen what the new Ford GT costs? Ford won’t have any trouble selling ALL of them. And those are just “lowly” Fords, right? So yeah...I think real enthusiasts won’t have any trouble paying $80k for a real high performance…
Average age for my fleet of 4 cars (3 Fords and 1 Jeep) is 13.5 years.
Where have I seen this before?
I know it’s kind of unrelated, but your story about the bumper in the abandoned house reminded me of this ‘69 van that I found in the woods behind my in-law’s cabin. Every time I visit, I salvage parts from it and sell them online. To date I’ve made about $250 bucks. The biggest score came from the vintage roof rack.
I can’t imagine the money earned uber’ing even offsets the cost of wear and tear on a vehicle.
I think you win.
Nissan Rogue has a bicycle seat for a horn.
There are few new cars made today that with looks alone give me a chubby, but the current Mustang GT with a track package is one of them...it’s just a damn good looking car, but this “refresh” isn’t working for me. Nope. They messed it up. (Still looks better than the Camaro though)
A Focus ST is capable of 154 mph.
Good God Toyota....do your designers really try to out-ugly each other’s designs?
damn you for making me want one of these.
I’ve never heard it compared to the E39. Comparing the SS to an old-ass BMW is stupid. For more than a $50,000 difference that BMW better give me a handy too. The SS still outclasses the big BMW M5 in many facets of performance (not just drag racing). BTW - I’ll take the Jeep over the G-Class any day too. It can go…
I know a guy who did that to his SS. The one’s that know, get it and are in on it. The one’s that don’t know just think he’s got something exotic. If only they knew it’s “just a chevy”
Who is comparing it to a 14 year old BMW? The current SS can take on many current BMW offerings at the track or the strip and leave them in it’s dust all while costing much less. I know drag racing isn’t the only performance measure, but consider this; the SS is nearly 1 second quicker in the quarter mile over a new…
I love it all....it’s handsome and seems capable. Would love it more with a modest tow package. Be a great race car/motorcycle hauler.
That happened to me once. It was the Eclipse. (I’m old)
