well, gluten intolerance is bullshit. The guy who did the original study has even said so , that it wasn't the gluten that was causing it but a very specific carbohydrate.

My favorite is asking people following that fad to explain to me exactly what gluten is and why they can't eat it. So many can't.
Rob Kardashian leaving because of major family drama? Methinks the family drama went like this:
I was skeptical of the prevalence of people jumping on the 'gluten-free' bandwagon, then I met a co-worker who went gluten free because she 'did a lot of reading on the internet.'
I don't care if Charlize is saying it to be "edgy", it needs to be said. So sick of trendy, Hollywood starvation diets in disguise as legit medical conditions being passed down to us normals.
You have moved me zero percent. First of all, I said that orthodontia is a capitulation to classism but I'm less troubled by it because both men and women get it in equal measure. Did you read that part? You could have saved yourself that whole first paragraph.
Thats what my biggest fear is, how my daughter would look at me. Yes I could get a nose job, but she'd have my old nose and who am i to sit here and tell her its beautiful if I had it changed.
What kind of feminism is this that looks so much like capitulation?
Thank you for this. Thats what my biggest fear is, how my daughter would look at me. Yes I could get a nose job, but she'd have my old nose and who am i to sit here and tell her its beautiful if I had it changed.
THANK YOU. I'm so fucking disappointed in Millennial choice "feminism."
Thank you— both of you— for being the voices of reason here. What kind of feminism is this that looks so much like capitulation?
All these comments are about "normalizing" plastic surgery... Is that really the key to dismantling the culture that demands that women look a certain way? To normalize the surgical altering of our appearances so that we can fit some fucked-up standard? I do think that plastic surgery is in the same family as make-up…
I think faces are important. Even as infants, we respond to expressions. Looking into someone's eyes is supposed to show you some sort of truth...When we cut our faces open to look like something else, it feels like deception. Plastic Surgery feels like someone is telling you a lie.
I had an ex-girlfriend who was very much a feminist and got some plastic surgery while we were together. She asked me what I thought before she did it and I hesitated to be frank but ultimately told her that I was disappointed—aside from expressing that she absolutely did not need to do anything to herself and wanting…
BOOM. Yep, that's it.
I have the same thoughts about surgery. Even if it's safe and you're going it to just fix things up a little, it's still surgery and should be taken very seriously and things can go wrong even if you have the best surgical team in the world. People can do whatever they want with their bodies, but I only want to have…
This is not going to apply to most people, but I thought I might contribute it since it wasn't covered in the article. There are deeper reasons to have an aversion to plastic surgery.
This is going to be very personal and pretty painful for me to confess, but I think I should.
I'm sorry, MY version of feminism includes personal responsibility and not contributing to patriarchy. This is nonsense.
You know what? I'm really sick of this idea we've built up that because patriarchy influences are decisions, suddenly we no longer have personal responsibility. Yes, there's pressure. But if you decide to succumb to it and get plastic surgery, you have become a part of society that is contributing to the pressure and…
