Yep, their margins run in the low single digits and losing ALL sales running up to a top-5 food-centric holiday had to hurt A LOT.

Basic math:

I would except that I just finally upgraded from my 1st gen Pixel XL to a Samsung S9+. While I love the Pixel’s software (especially the camera!), the hardware turned out to be disappointing. My wife and I both got our phones at the same time and I’ve had a bunch of issues with mine. An Android update broke my

I agree with you on the semi trucks, I’ve written extensively in another comment on why taxis aren’t going to be feasible, but I think you’re going to run into similar problems with public transportation. Again, you have to solve a ton of problems to run an autonomous bus: recognizing when passengers are waiting at

The technology around autonomous cars is impressive, but I doubt we’ll see anything close to what’s been promised in our lifetimes. Getting a car from point A to point B without hitting anything is do-able, but that’s only half the issue. Cars have to navigate changing cityscapes, unpredictable pedestrians and other

It’s a good moment, but I disagree that it’s the defining one. The one that clearly shows who Cap is and why he does what he does is when he’s still a shrimp and talking to Erskine who asks “So you want to kill Nazis, eh?” Steve responds “No sir, I don’t want to kill anyone. I just don’t like bullies.” That line

Ah yes, I misunderstood. My take is that they wanted a small roadster with Miata-like handling and similar reliability for fun weekend play. That would indeed leave them with a fair amount of flex when it comes to reliability, but there’s a difference between taking the car to the shop every once in a while while your

My dad had a 1984 300ZX that was a glorious car to drive on nice dry pavement. On wet or snowy roads it was a nightmare. But fortunately the frame rusted out fast enough that it became structurally unsound after a few years. Still, loved those T-tops...

Oh, I’m sure they could have been made tolerable on the highway, but they were always small wheelbase 4WD mini-off-roaders with all the flipability that entails. Dumb people rolled them all the time driving them like Hummers. And I will cheerfully join you in singing the praises of the Suzuki underpinnings of the Geo

My dad had a green TR7 that I lust after, but common sense prevails. They’re nothing but disasters waiting to happen. Sadly, while still beautiful, they’re also deathtraps compared to anything even slightly more modern these days.

reliability doesn’t seem to be a huge concern

Unfortunately, like the Nissan suggested above, this is a biodegradable car that will cause mechanical headaches down the road.

Yeah, this isn’t that bad an idea if they’re willing to drive a fairly large roadster. Other options include a variety of Camaro and Firebird muscle car convertibles out there.

Honestly, I’m surprised this one isn’t on their list. It’s cheap, fun to drive, readily available and there are a ton under $10K out there. They can probably even find something relatively old and classic-ish for that budget (although the fox-bodies are revolting). The only thing I was thinking is that they’re a bit

This is my recommendation, although I prefer the Cooper Convertible to the Roadster. They’re on the exact same platform, but the Cooper gives you almost as much cargo space as the hardtop with only a tiny bit more weight (plus you get another couple of seats). All are available with a manual, all of them handle like

For good reason. The only thing they had going for them was the fact that they were a 4WD convertible. Otherwise they were heavy, slow and even less reliable than most other Audi’s (which is saying quite a bit).

This is a surprisingly sensible suggestion. That said, they are horrible on the highway, should never be turned sharply and are by now all disintegrating because GM.

Yeah, but for some reason whoever is driving it tends to look like a massive douchebag. I like and respect the car, but the combination of their styling and their drivers turns me off. Also, I test drove one and realized when I put up the roof that I’d have to put my left arm INSIDE for a change. All of a sudden it

This. There are TONS of them out there for <$10K and they will cheerfully run up into the 200K mileage range without significant problems. They are far more distinctive than the omnipresent Miata and with the mid-engine completely different and just as fun to drive.
