@MikeS.: Well I'm glad you got it figured out. Never used the site, but it must be doing something right.

@dieriding: For sure. I have no idea how that works, I just saw your post and I remembered seeing that article. I really know nothing about how it functions or whatever, just thought I'd see if that got ya anywhere.
@CamJN: That would only be a big deal if you are a developer. You can just go to VBox's website and install that way.
@RGLarson: Thirded. In the burbs of Chicago thats what we called it too.
@dieriding: Not much help here, but you might want to check out [lifehacker.com] as this might fit the "private facebook site" you're looking for.
@Platypus Man: The thing is there was no obvious way to tell which way was upside down and it would sometimes slide around while you used the laptop. Obviously not a common occurrence, but it seems like he is not looking for a common application either.
@GreasyPig: I apologize as his comment wasn't there when I started replying. I suppose that is true, I was going off the assumption his movies were higher definition, but I hadn't thought of that.
@Titan_X: Ah my apologies for mixing them up. Ya the one I see most often is the 2009 version (hardly ever use windows so I only see it when it comes time to fix the extended families computers..)
@MagooGirl: Well I hardly ever use Windows, and from fixing other peoples' boxes I remember having a hell of a time with Norton. I'm sorry I'm not up to speed with all of the applications on a foreign OS. I was under the impression they only had one program.
@bilk: Sounds like you might have deleted gnome-desktop when you installed unity. Apt-get install gnome-desktop and you'll be fine (if that's the issue...)
@Hasteur: Elvis Christmas
@savvypenguin: Rip straight to iso (an image of the disk...don't convert it to avi or anything like that, you'll lose quality...) Then burn the dvd to mpeg2 (i think thats the standard format of a store bought dvd). The only thing you might have to watch out for is if a movie is on a dual layer disc to begin with,…
@whoopingchow: You can rip them as straight iso rips as opposed to shitty 700mb avi's...
@Platypus Man: I've had the situation where the charger was very fussy. It would be plugged in properly, but if you had it upside down (it was a round plug...) it wouldn't charge. Very easy to not notice.
@Roberto: I find ryhthmbox to do everything I can ask of it...Banshee is good from what I hear. Lots of people like Amarok. MediaMonkey works pretty well in wine if that's more your style.
@ckcallen: I don't think he was saying a USB hard drive. I think he was suggesting buying a 250GB xbox hd alone and swapping out the 4GB for that.
@GreasyPig: Some people watch their ripped movies on a computer connected to a TV. I assume this is why he needs 720p.
@MikeS.: Open your VM. Once it is up and running and you are logged in. Click on Devices in the toolbar. From the dropdown menu, go to install guest additions. This will mount the guest additions iso.
@lhed: Possibly talking about different things...I am talking about Norton AntiVirus though...
@PanhandleJoe: A Macbook Air is a laptop, not a box you can throw more PCI cards into to use more monitors. It is supposed to be impressive because it is running 4 monitors, whilst most laptops can run 2. I say supposed to because it's really kinda cheating using USB and Serial and say it counts.
