@Jeff: Plus there's no u in sarcasm, but that's for another day I suppose.

@trs: More importantly, when does this become to old to use? It already stopped being funny long ago.

@Whitson Gordon: Care to share your Automator script? I never really dug into Automator, but I can script well enough to adjust to suit my needs. This would make life a lot easier.

@Monamo: Ya I gave it a go and couldn't find anything either. I also found that it was way to klunky for me. I wanted to make sure I didn't miss anything so I actually started going through each and every package. Time waster. I'll just set up an install how I want and then turn that into a live cd.

@mullingitover: I'm sure LeBron James would totally arg...oh wait...

@tylerf: What if its strapped to a cat's back butter side up? Something's gotta give.

@zjgz: Except nobody from the other side of the deal would go for this. I would love this, but if it's just burned they have no physical copies to sell/rent.

@Seeräuber Jenny: Your post hits perfectly. I have trouble whittling down my projects, because I can't choose between them. So when work told me I should really learn Perl, well that finally gave it the push I needed to dedicate my "grout"/free time to it.

@shueybalooey: Linux Mint handles pretty much everything that Ubuntu does. It is, in fact based heavily off of ubuntu. One of the most obvious, if not only, changes is that linux mint comes packaged with all of the necessary codecs to play any videos, mp3s, flash, etc..

@soggy_cheerio: Thanks. I am under the impression I will not have a box in my room, though if I do things become easier of course. I thought about doing the Tv/monitor thing, but the thought of recording is quite tempting for me.

@Jimmy From The Block: It's ok I'm in IT too, I know how it goes. So even though the coax I will have is coming from the cable company, I wouldn't get anything but local channels with clear QAM would I?

@leaderbuilder: Only the middle link worked, but it looks outstanding. Thank you so much for your help. This makes a lot of sense.

@Jimmy From The Block: Well I understand the thing about the TVs, however, I am talking about for my bedroom, which has limited desk space. This is why I wanted to just use my computer monitor since it will be sitting there already.

@bulljargon: I'm sorry I guess I was slightly unclear, I actually think it's going to be a wall jack connection that comes from the cable into the apt. I only said cable box to differentiate that I am not using any antenna or anything over the air like that. I was also under the impression that computer monitors

@farcedude: Unless they changed something recently, I'm almost positive it is not video in.

So I'm moving into an apartment that has cable coax hookup in the bedroom. I will have my computer in there so I figure I should just get a PCI card that can accept the cable signal. I do not understand which ones will work though, I'm not to familiar with all of this clear QAM, OTA HD and whatnot. What kind would I

@Windcape: As I just graduated in May, I have a pretty good idea how this all works. And actually most everyone I know (not just students) has never heard of any of those things. Most people actually use flash drives almost exclusively.

@shueybalooey: I'm not sure about the wireless card. Is there a reason you are using ndiswrapper, it is not necessarily needed, there might be a driver out there already for ubuntu.

@S_path_23: What OS do you use? I know there are some for Mac and Linux (Ubuntu & derivatives at least) that sit on the MenuBar and take up very little room. I would assume there are some similar for Windows, too.
