@Windcape: CLI commands are actually almost exactly the same through Linux Unix and Mac (since it uses the Unix core, roughly speaking). So actually Windows would be very biased around a single system. I have also used windows quite a bit in networking, but it was a big hassle dealing with them. Again YMMV applies

@Aklost: Well granted, Linux kicks everyones a$$. Just saying outside of the anomoly (which it sounds like you have, IMO), Macs should be just fine doing 3D.

Can you also strip out applications you don't want? This would be amazing, everything is installed and ready to go. Would be perfect for say my VM farm for security testing.

@Odin: Ok let me rephrase. Most students where I just graduated took laptops with them, took them out, and used them (productively) consistently. I'd say close to 3/4 of all students in my classes used laptops as note taking devices.

@Windcape: Windows does not do everything that the other platforms can do. Command line is revamped in Windows 7, but in my networking classes the professor always had to have a cheat sheet saying what the Windows command was because it didn't often line up with the bash command. Also, even when it had a similar

@Odin: I'd disagree. Most students where I just graduated took laptops with them. Even many engineers that I know. A 13 inch laptop is fine for note taking and then if you have that big monitor at home, you're all set.

@Aklost: I've never had or seen an issue with a Macbook doing any 3d rendering. Oh and python scritping will run equally as fine on any similarly specced machine.

@Elpants: Well I disagree. It is not for everyone, but for some people it works. My sister is the furthest thing from technologically advanced, and for her to have to deal with her computer breaking or doing anything she is not expecting, would be killer. With a Mac, she knows how to use it (dad worked at Apple, she

@timgray: Where the hell did you go that you got 1/4 back on books? I'm jealous. My last semester in college I spent $600 on books (even with buying as many used online as possible), and I got back $50.

@Yeah!: This clearly states the deal was for TVs? Am I missing something? (not sarcastic, being serious.)

@bobbobato: Some of us have huge media libraries, as well as full system backups and revisions, etc... etc...

@CamJN: I think he did. Think of it as "productivity porn" not "productivity" "porn."

@oboreruhito: Does this method allow for using the Apple Supplied updates? And does everything seem to work (audio, networking, etc..)?

@felipead: Really, I have found it to be unbelievably simpler, more stable, and much faster than either of those.

@Philip Pratt: Thanks, I assumed it would (I use VirtualBox often and love it), however, I just didn't know if there was something special about the Windows version that allowed this.

@squishyalt: But a single computer can't run multiple OSes at the same time, unless you virtualize. There is just no way for that to happen.

You say this works on Windows, and I see no reason why not, but does it work on Linux as well?

@AmphetamineCrown: I am not sure if it handles Apple Lossless, I don't use the format myself. Although the site does say it handles lossless (by converting otf). I don't think there really are any big security issues with setting up the port forwarding (outside of the normal port forwarding security things). I think

@AmphetamineCrown: If you are looking for just music, then I would suggest Subsonic. It's pretty awesome.

@sleeping143: Please, Chicago Cubs/Bears fan here. How's that for loyalty?
