Can’t wait for the fat slob of a manager at the dealerships to put a $5,000,000 ADM on these with a shit-eating grin on his face.
I hired Tom to find me an Elantra back in early 2021. Did he save me the whole cost of his fee? Maybe, it was probably about a wash. But he definitely saved me a ton of bullshit. In the current market, which is far worse now, sell your car for cash, and hire a pro to find what you’re looking for. That’s the real tip.
You have a very nice rig. But it likely costs more than 40k and could go a lot higher.
The big advantage is the bed...Most rooftop tents have an awesome mattress built in and most can be closed with the bedding in place.
How are car salesmen so fucking arrogant? Just, WTF?!
Yours may be the first documented case of someone actually knowing what they had.
I would love to have an EV to sound like Rammstein around pedestrians.
Ford chimes genuinely turn me off of Ford products.
A bunch of USED CAR DEALERS don’t like rules that stop them from being shady? Who would have ever guessed!
The laziness in sourcing stories has been out of control lately. Was thinking the same thing when I noticed the article. Don’t know why I’m not done here. Could just be nostalgia at this point.
The trouble with dropping the platform down is that the castors require so much volume to swivel around. In theory the castors could be moved forward, but weight is limited by the maximum number of castors (two for practical reasons) and maximum speed that the castor wheels can be rated for. Still interesting
It’s a neat idea that I’ve never seen before, but of course my brain goes straight to how it wouldn’t work. The heavy duty platform can handle up to 1,200lbs, which is certainly good enough for a 100KW battery pack, but half of that weight would have to be supported by the ass-end of a car never designed to use…
I’m guessing this was more some legislator’s hobby horse.
Based on how well that has worked for people backing into a parking spot using those “features” I’d argue that those driver aids and AI are garbage. We need better driving exams and better visibility, not better driving aids.
It’s my theory that as computers/CAD and factory robots etc. got better, suddently things that were very difficult and hence expensive became possible and cheap, and designers have kinda lost their shit a bit and thrown the entire toybox at it because no-one’s told them they can’t anymore.
Sometime in the mid late 90's, I was about 17 shopping for a used car with my dad in NYC. At the time the internet wasn’t yet a thing and shopping for a used car meant scouring the newspaper/local used car magazines, auto auctions, or visiting and walking the dealer lots. The process was time consuming to say the…
I’m not sure why auto designers don’t get it right. What are they drinking that makes them want to crunch and seam every surface. They are so gaudy.
agree with this... i appreciated how they stuck to their boxy look thru the bubble era... while others were so busy focused on what bubbly cars they could produce, they never stopped to think if they should produce them...
