speaking from having spent a holiday (long)  weekend with a 4 door wrangler rental...other than a random whistle from somewhere around the windshield, and the occasional death wobble, it rode quite a bit more comfortably than my compact pickup, which i’ve done road trips in both loaded and unloaded. (it does ride

been on and off truck shopping recently, linked over to one of my semi local dealers to see what their “great deals” were...uh yeahhh, $10k “added dealer markup” on every one i looked at.

i don’t get the mileage either, old or new, especially based on a couple comparables we’ve had for rentals.

yeah, i hadn’t for some years, the last warranty service on a starter, the shuttle left me sitting there and took off to lunch (the one time i made the mistake of depending on their shuttle)...but the airbag recalls, and then the 2nd round of recalls had me back. first the dealer i bought it from taking an appointment

I live in an area where dealers for most brands are abundant. So I can easily write off the dealer that is marking up everything and currently has a $70k Toyota Sienna on their lot. I’m also stubborn enough to drive out of my way to avoid those places anyway.

let’s be honest, Jalopnik has changed a bit in the days since Doug moved on...kind of like one of the many auto/moto forums after Vertical Scope took over.

if anyone wants that Sobro table, good luck with Wayfair.

some places specifically single out motorcycles for that ability, because they know their detection of motorcycles sucks.

would that have been a Lithia dealer?

yeah, that’s definitely a good sign. i’ve been on and off looking for a new truck, and even stepping up to full size, it’s not exactly easy to find a crew cab and enough bed length to put the bike entirely on the bed unless you step up to the 250/2500 class...6' is the minimum. The 150/1500's EXIST with a 6.5/6.75 ft

but is the tailgate going to taco like the tacomas?

lot of sheet metal changes, similar to the last iteration of the mazda b series and the ranger. the interior is where it gets a little more telling.

there’s a CA DMV commercial testing facility near the intersection of E North Ave and S East Ave...

my city says they’ll pick up batteries in a ziplock separate from the trash, placed on top of the bin... but the collection people don’t actually pick them up, they just move the bag off the garbage can and leave the batteries in the street.

i picked up that bit of trivia somewhere previously...the V6 mustang bumper doesn’t have the exhaust cutouts the GT has, which the R didn’t need with its (both) side exit exhausts.

around 245k on a late 90's accord here, and there’s an early aughts model around 260k in the extended family too.

I’d like to know why suv is off the table.

i was pricing a ‘just for the hell of it’ trip to portland (from central CA) a few years ago. JUST the round trip on amtrak with the smallest sleeper rang in more expensive than booking flight+hotel+rental car for 3 nights via the usual travel sites (hotwire, etc)

there was a friend of a friend some years back...had a salvage yard in the family. was running around with a ls1+rear mounted turbo stuffed into a late 90's single cab S10.
