alternate option: price out the selling prices of trailers at your destination, and purchase prices on new & used in both locations. with all the charges they add to moving trucks, especially 1 way, it may work out cheaper to buy a trailer for the move, and sell it later, especially if you already have something…

steelies can look good, or they can look like the hubcap fell off. lots of honda and toyota stuff are particularly ugly, NEEDING to be covered up. surprisingly, chevy has put some decent looking 5 spoke steelies on the malibu (and maybe others) in the past. those on the jimny look not too far off of some of the stuff…

honestly, they’re all kinds of brazen in some areas.

hertz is just a huge pain in the ass, and not too long pre-pandemic, when one of the cars was in the shop due to an accident, we actually declined the rental car and made do without because it would’ve meant dealing with hertz.

Surprised no one’s mentioned it yet, but towing it to the dealer is but one of three options....there’s also having it serviced in place (how many Ford dealers will?) but of bigger note is the “or following the provided instructions” option, which likely amount to “tighten the damn nuts”.

only ran into that situation once, coming back from the coast...her 250 in the bed, my 500 on a harbor freight trailer...45 in 3rd was all it could do coming up the 7% cuesta grade on Hwy 101 (though slightly bigger tires without regearing haven’t helped things).

yikes. yeah, no cruise in either of my piles either. the truck was one of those “10 at this price”, with the only option being A/C. didn’t even have a tape deck, radio only, though i remedied that 2 weeks in.

mine has been nearly all hassles in the time i’ve owned a mazda, to the point that the only time a dealer has seen it since the warranty ran out is for the airbag recalls.

There was a “Super Autobacs” store in Southern CA for a bit as well. i want to say it was early/mid 2000's; had to cheat and look at a map, because i remember it being on Beach Blvd, and it was, in Stanton,CA.
