This was great... I feel incredibly ignorant for having not really known Bessie’s story until now. I mostly knew Bessie Coleman’s name from the road at ORD.

Yeah, that's currently closed off as part of the big remodel. My understanding is that the shops and restaurants will be back and expanded once they're done. Right now, all of the restaurants and shops are after security.
Expect that to change. It’s my understanding that we’re going to be getting bars and restaurants on the pre-security side at PDX as part of the massive remodel. I guess it’ll be nice to be able to have a drink or lunch or whatever with friends/family before they hop on a flight, but I could see it leading to more…
As someone who is currently trying to procure a Golf R, I can tell you that they're nearly impossible to find, and when you can find one, they're selling for $10k over that $45k MSRP. It's a fucking nightmare out there right now.
If this is the real thing - and I suspect that it is - it's beautiful. I just hope it's fast.
I'm from Portland, and we can always tell a Californian transplant by how they refer to the freeways. "The 5", "The 405", etc. Dead giveaway that you're talking to a Californian.
I’ve driven I-94 between Chicago and Minneapolis more times than I can even count, and I always dreaded the stretch between The Dells and Eau Claire in the winter time. It would get incredibly sketchy, and Wisconsin didn’t do a great job of plowing/salting there. I’m not surprised that this happened on that particular…
And I thought 90's-era Hyundais/Kias had terrible resale value. These things are going to be worth scrap value before their warranties are up.
Well, I guess I can cross that off my shopping list.
“Martin Brundle is just not that important, and neither is F1.”
I kinda grew up all over the place, but I spent the majority of my time in the Midwest - northern Illinois specifically. The car I most associate with my time there are 2nd and 3rd generation Chrysler/Dodge/Plymouth minivans. Almost always rusted to shit. I used to say that my town was where old minivans go to die.
I'm a huge Porsche fan, but I think the RSR sounds like ass. I have to plug my ears every time one of those fuckers rips by on the track. The C8.R on the other hand... those things sound awesome.
Lived in Illinois for 20 years. Can confirm. I absolutely hated driving in Wisconsin.
I never even considered this, but it makes perfect sense. This car is in Nebraska, so it’s possible that the landau top is covering up hail damage, but I’m guessing based on the rest of the car that it’s just a case of bad taste.
Also, they apparently don't know the difference between "site" and "sight". I don't think anyone proofreads these articles anymore.
Portland checking in - I'd be willing to bet that our DA is just as worthless... maybe even more so.
I was actually considering a WRX as my next car, but that fucking cladding is an absolute deal-breaker. Even more so for me because I like white cars, and that cladding looks horrible on white. Sorry Subaru, you fucked this one up.
Thank goodness it can handle the terns. Feisty little buggers they are...
To some extent, yes. The nice thing about something like the Santa Cruz is that I wouldn’t have to listen to my wife complain that I hauled a muddy-ass bike in the back of her CUV.
Same goes for most of their furniture.
