Well, AVClub started in the 90s as a non-joke subsection of the Onion, which was an independent site, like IO9 and Deadspin. AVClub used to have a much larger, more consistent staff and much larger range of content (people like Keith Phipps, Scott Tobias, Tasha Robinson, Genevieve Koski, Nathan Rabin, Amelie Gillette,

I was quite surprised to be hooked by her NPR Tiny Desk “At Home.”  That’s the reason I know this song in the first place!

There was a ‘Splatter Zone’ in the first 3 rows when I saw the L.A. musical production of *Reanimator*. We got plastic sheeting to keep the fake blood off our clothing.

Django Unchained is one of the only movies I’ve seen in the theater that received a standing ovation. It was a matinee showing weeks after the movie came out, at a multiplex, with a mid-sized crowd, and everyone felt inspired to jump to their feet and applaud when that plantation blew up.

Django Unchained and Hateful Eight were both great.

Very bizarre for this writer to just assume a muted response to Django Unchained. It’s to this day his highest grossing movie, received great reviews from critics, is second only to Pulp Fiction as his highest rated film on IMDb, won him an Oscar for Original Screenplay, and is arguably his all-around most popular and

‘You expect me to talk?’

I’d prefer to not discuss it - Jessie was a very private person, and since her immediate family hasn’t given the cause of death publicly, I’ll respect that and do the same. I can say that we know the COD, and it was nothing scandalous (despite what Mallory might have wanted, the prime minister of Italy wasn’t involved)

Which reminds me that I’d 100% be in for a Game Night 2.

An article about Jessica Chastain in Tammy Faye makeup should include at least one picture of Jessica Chastain in Tammy Faye makeup.

she spent 10 years researching Tammy Faye Bakker? I think even Tammy Faye would say “thanks but that’s extreme overkill.”

I think Tammy Faye also spent hours in makeup to get that Tammy Faye look.

I’m into it. The first one came out while I was a dumb male college student, which was pretty much the target audience. I assume I watched it 20 times or so over the next few years. These days, it’s still a movie I’ll watch when I come across it on tv - not sure if it’s just nostalgia value or if it objectively holds

What if they crash a wedding in Palm Springs and, get this, they end up in a time loop and they can’t die?!?

If this isn’t Funeral Crashers we riot at dawn.

Who fucking cares what Neil Gaiman thinks? We DEMAND Zach Snyder make a shot-for-panel adaptation with at least 37% slow motion set to Hallelujah.

I’ve never been to an Alamo, but ordering and eating a full meal while watching a movie sounds like an awful experience.

When I was a kid, theaters with “stadium seating” started showing up in my area. I’m sure they’ve existed elsewhere forever by that point, but until then, our local theaters were just the simple kind with a slightly sloped floor and rows of simple flip-up seats. The increased visibility was greatly appreciated by kids
