Huh. Apparently I don’t go the right (wrong?) places, this is the first time I’ve heard of this game.

The Steam forums (especially Off Topic) are absolutely buried in these people. Every new big game that comes out, the “is this game woke?”/“this game IS woke!”/“hope it fails”/etc posts get more traffic than the ones talking about the game, starting a couple months before release.

Another factor with Starfield vs Skyrim/Fallout is that there have been no DLC yet, nor have they released the modding tools. Until modding takes off, there’s not a lot of reason for people to pick up the game again like they do with Beth’s other titles.

This.   I love exploring your Cool Open World, guys.  But many of us have limited play time, so being able to spend that time exploring *new* stuff - rather than running back and forth and back and forth and back and forth through places I’ve been dozens of times already - is really nice.
