Warehouse 13 on SyFy was essentially a mix of that and X-Files.

Kind of...but it’s not like you couldn’t still play. With Destiny it was more that you just weren’t going to get any more new content.

Not really...

Sorry, I misstated. The hardware companies want their money. I honestly don’t see why PG is losing support on older devices. No reason to discontinue it.

Really, what about every DOS game ever made? You’re emulating them, your operating system doesn’t technically support them. Again, mobile devices are not gaming consoles. The paradigm is different.

And that’s by design, not by nature.

But can you update an older game to run fine on older PC?

A. I can still play a 1960 version of Scrabble.

I can play a game from 1993 (Doom) on my laptop that I bought in 2016. Hell, I can emulate games from the 80's on my laptop, too. Are you sure that what you say is the nature of gaming?

No...no it’s not.

counter-point: this is the “games as a service” mentality. they could just leave the old application untouched for iphone 5's and release a new app for the newer phones. after all, i can still play my old steam games released 15 years ago... and their sequels, released last year.

Hope a lot of people that paid real money to support this scam learn their lesson not to support microtransactions and F2P games. I know they wont, but I’ll still hope.

ai has the huge advantage of having her vids eng subbed, i hope more follow. i find her vids charming and absurd and they give me this nice ‘the future is now’ vibe.

“Lets be real the first time most of us heard about him was thanks to Franco making a film about how fucking stupid this guy was.” Er...no, The Room was a huge phenomenon long before James Franco got involved.

Or is he....

Apparently you’re the one who needs to do more research. Yes, copyright
was created “to protect the creators right from plagiarism and [theft],” but only because that protection was an incentive to get creators to create things for the public and thus benefit society as a whole. (Without the protection it provides,

And I’m not saying this specific case is a great example of what this hypothetical ‘new copyright system’ should allow. Rather it’s an example of a where the existing copyright system fails for being too rigid and where existing technologies and different approaches could overcome those failings.

Because you couldn’t get it for free. You’d still have to own a license to the assets being used in whatever fan game you might want. Just like you still need to own the base game to play total-conversion mods, you’d need to own the base game (or games) used to create fan productions. Nothing has changed. Only that a

Really, copyright and IP laws need an overhaul to allow for this kind of usage with reasonable restrictions — things like distributed but free of charge, for example, or with licensed-product purchases for access to copyright-protected assets used in the fan product.

Fan games are neat.
