The RAV4 Prime PHEV is a decent offering these days, but at ~$50,000 I just don’t get it. While you can drive 40 miles on all electric and its a bit faster, it still looks and feels like it should be $30k. Always thought the VENZA should have gotten that powertrain and then the price tag would make a lot more sense.

while this entire situation is shitty, at the end of the day, the husband, the piece of shit he is, was a legal owner of the car, Tesla couldn’t do anything, they can’t bar the legal owner access to the vehicle.  

Exactly. It’s not Tesla’s place to change the car title or remove ownership. Until the court says otherwise, it’s still partly his car. We don’t want companies just changing the terms of ownership just because someone says so.

Ford did a lot of maneuvering to be the “first” EV pickup. They even beat Tesla to market after Tesla announced their entry to the segment.  Ford could have saved a bunch of money by rolling out the launch later and slower but they had to be “first.” So consider most of the cost of the F150 lightning to be marketing…

It does feel like the current public company model is becoming obsolete. Investors, news outlets, and the general public have way too much access to information so the stock market has absolutely no tolerance for long term thinking.

Surely it’s going to be sustainable for automakers to keep making knee-jerk decisions just to keep investors happy with short-term profits. I cannot see a single way in which this might possibly backfire.
