The RAV4 Prime PHEV is a decent offering these days, but at ~$50,000 I just don’t get it. While you can drive 40 miles on all electric and its a bit faster, it still looks and feels like it should be $30k. Always thought the VENZA should have gotten that powertrain and then the price tag would make a lot more sense.

but this site told me this truck would NEVER be made and that people DON’T want EVs. Now its being made and people are buying it?

Kind of reminds me of the GLA AMG from the back

As some who frequents this area regularly I can tell you that St. Louis Metro police will pull this bullshit card whenever they damn well please.

Remember when a pickup truck bed was only a little higher than the bed of a station wagon and now they are similar in height to a sedan?

I can’t imagine what I would do if this happened to my kids, but I think my response would be something similar to the movie “Law Abiding Citizen”

Every day and every night

The 47-year-old Farmer has been charged with four counts of homicide by intoxicated use of vehicle, operating a vehicle while intoxicated and operating a vehicle while revoked causing death, The Star reports.

If convicted, this would be at least Scott C. Farmer’s fifth drunk driving offense

We take driving while intoxicated far too leniently all over, this is bad, but too many places still see driving drunk as no more than a social faux pas at worst. We need to start taking it a lot more seriously.

Hell, in this case the people who let him off the second, third, and fourth time should be in jail too.

while this entire situation is shitty, at the end of the day, the husband, the piece of shit he is, was a legal owner of the car, Tesla couldn’t do anything, they can’t bar the legal owner access to the vehicle.

Exactly. It’s not Tesla’s place to change the car title or remove ownership. Until the court says otherwise, it’s still partly his car. We don’t want companies just changing the terms of ownership just because someone says so.

Interesting, raising your voice is causing a disturbance but crashing your 5,500 pound SUV police cruiser through the front wall is apparently not.

Ford did a lot of maneuvering to be the “first” EV pickup. They even beat Tesla to market after Tesla announced their entry to the segment.  Ford could have saved a bunch of money by rolling out the launch later and slower but they had to be “first.” So consider most of the cost of the F150 lightning to be marketing

The stupid thing about this (and this is not just confined to the automotive business) is that these upper management types (CEOs, Presidents, etc) all either explicitly or implicitly say that their ridiculously high pay is deserved because they are so much smarter than everyone else. But the problem is that they

It does feel like the current public company model is becoming obsolete. Investors, news outlets, and the general public have way too much access to information so the stock market has absolutely no tolerance for long term thinking.

Surely it’s going to be sustainable for automakers to keep making knee-jerk decisions just to keep investors happy with short-term profits. I cannot see a single way in which this might possibly backfire.

lol
