She knows she can’t win with the more progressive wing of the party, so she seems to be going for the “Chamber of Commerce” Democrats and some of the people who feel disenfranchised since the state Republican party crazied itself out of relevance. That tells me that her grasp of California politics is really

Yeah, it’s scary. When I was looking at insurance plans, one of my top priorities was having options besides Catholic hospital-affiliated health care providers. I’m fortunate to live in an area where I have options, but people in so many parts of the US don’t have a choice.

Oh, I’m sure banning tubal ligations is on the agenda. Just a guess on my part, but if they’re trying to do away with tubal ligation and in vitro fertilization (another section of the proposal bans some of the component procedures), I’d imagine they’d go after voluntary sterilization at some point.

But Teh Babiez! Even the ones that categorically can’t survive are more important than the person they’ll probably kill!

I’m participating in 10Q for the... seventh year, I think. It starts on Rosh Hashana, but there’s really no religion required – just take a few minutes a day for 10 days to answer questions about the year in your life. A year later, 10Q sends your answers back to you. It’s like taking an annual snapshot of your

That’s been my impression of everyone I’ve met who’s actively involved in Full Circle... A little off-kilter, but nice people who sincerely want to make the world a better, more compassionate place.

I think it’s sort of a guided medidation-type thing - like you and a bunch of other people sit or lie there while live music washes over you. “Sound voyage” might not be the exact phrase... But it’s definitely along those lines. Like everything else I know about Full Circle, it’s kinda woo-woo but ultimately harmless,

They’re really, really into that building, for reasons I apparently just don’t vibrate at the right frequency to understand.

Just slightly annoying. Sex with Andrew Keegan is optional, but there’s a lot of meditation and “sound voyages” involved.

My semi-educated guess: he was drilled on the way to handle rape questions that would least affect ticket sales, but once the cameras were on there was no way to keep him from going rogue.

Also, the guy produced, wrote, directed, starred in and was the beneficiary of a bidding war over this project. Now, plenty of people have poured themselves into passion projects - but most of them are smart enough to get out of the way and let the distributors do what they do.

So because I loved the Miss Peregrine series and don’t dislike Tim Burton movies, at first I wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt. If memory serves, all the kids pictures in the books were white, and he could want to stick to the photos.

I worked in daytime for a few years, and I gained so much respect for anyone who works on soaps.

Not JW myself, but I knew a fair few growing up.

Hey, Neil got himself banned from banking ‘cause of that whole Silverado thingy. What was he supposed to do, get a real job without trading on the family name? That’s a total Marvin move.

To be fair, that was the third inning. The radio affiliate simulcasts the first three innings of the game when Vin’s calling on TV, as I believe he explained somewhere along the line. After the third, he talks a bit less. And no one’s better when it comes to shutting the hell up and letting the crowd do the talking

I remember hearing about Marysville. Couldn’t stop thinking about it when I was stuck in traffic there earlier this year.

I think it’s always been that way - at least, it was way back in my first election, when Jerry Brown ran on the strength of young people and $20 donations; and certainly for the Democrats in 1968. (Anyone who doesn’t get that reference, take a minute to read about the ‘68 Democratic National Convention in Chicago.)

Yeah, I lost my electoral idealism in 2000. Remember that one? I’d be happy to tell you about it, if still living with the effects of it 16 years later hasn’t clued you in.
