Do you think there should be any kind of gender qualification for competing in women’s sports?

Something I do that eases stress even more is only monitoring my money once, at the end of the month, after everything is spent. (Note: this only works because my habits are already in good shape.)

Diving takes hours, too, but NBC manages to edit it down to a comprehensible package. Instead, with field events, we get a seemingly random selection of jumps/throws dispersed throughout the night, each one presented more or less entirely out of context.

Yeah, I think the Raisman/Hernandez decision for the fourth bars slot came down to deference to a veteran. Kocian is a distant fifth on the team on every apparatus except bars, where she’s the best. So the four bars slots went to Kocian and Douglas (who needed it to qualify for the apparatus finals), Biles (who needed

Has Douglas ever beaten Hernandez in a senior all-around? (Granted, Hernandez just turned senior this year.) I can see a debate between Raisman and Hernandez for number two, but both were pretty clearly better than Douglas at the all-around during the run up to the Olympics. (I thought Hernandez earned a shot at the

I did find it pretty shocking when it turned out that sometimes the same people were good at both the 1,000 meter backfart and the 1,100 meter backfart. These people are good at so many different things! Give them all the medals!

+1

I think you’re thinking of the 1956 blood in the water match between the USSR and Hungary in the wake of the Hungarian Revolution.

I died so many times in that book. But at least there was one outcome where you died BY WINNING.

I’d rank USA Women’s basketball #1. A single freak injury can sideline Ledecky. No one is beating the American women at basketball, though, even if half the team gets lost on the way to the arena.

Do these city councilors have names?

That makes sense, though on this case we’re talking about having less money in your checking account and more in savings, so it’s one less small thing (unless the one small thing is paid for out of your savings account.)

There are actually 8 horse sports. 6 Equestrian and 2 Modern Pentathlon.

Can someone explain the thinking here? I get the “save your physical spare change” thing, but I don’t really understand the point of the “transfer a random amount of money from one account to another” thing. It seems like it’s just inviting people to feel like they’re doing something even if they’re doing nothing.

Basketball teams should be able to take the ball instead of foul shots.

I don’t know if I’d call it “waiting” exactly, but Froome made contact with the GC contenders group before the attacks really started.

You have to remember that a pretty decent percentage of the country feels strongly about the outcome of this election. And that largely cuts across fields of expertise. I know several people who are qualified (i.e. are security engineers for high-profile/high-target tech companies) and would be open to taking this

Nobody wants to jump through the hoops the IOC makes them jump through to host the olympics. Plenty of cities would host the olympics if they could use their existing infrastructure.

Oh, huh, apparently 110m is a men’s event, and 100m is a women’s event.

Nope, that’s it. Other countries/other sports have different qualifying criteria (e.g. Usain Bolt was injured for the Jamaican trials, but they’ve got some subjectivity in their selection process, so he’ll still make the team), but USATF has a “run the fastest in this particular race, and you’re in” system.
