Unfortunately, artwork that detailed just doesn’t translate well to screen. They had to do something similar with the adaptation of Dark Knight Returns, but that one turned out pretty well.

As an animator myself, I would consider physically harming myself if I had to replicate that level of detailed artwork for animation....

Did you happen to connect the game online? Because if you connect the game online the world tendency resets to the average of everyone else’s world tendency. It was one of the dumber things the game did, but probably what happened to you.

my advice to anybody jumping into the Souls series is to play with a guide. seriously it will make the games much more bearable.
