Are you confusing 'best' with 'the ones I grew up watching on TV'? In no world was Dean Cain the best actor to ever play Superman. I'd take Reeves or even Cavill over Cain any day.

I mean, as a film-goer I hope this is good so I can watch and enjoy it… but I also sort of hope it sucks, just to keep it in continuity with all the other DC Cinematic Universe movies.

There was an interview with Ben Mendelsohn where he said each scene was shot in multiple different ways to give the crew lots of options when editing. Very possible the coolest looking shots were picked for the trailers while the main edit was still being completed, and they didn't want to overload style over
