"Coach’s suggestion to Sam that he try and salvage his relationship with Diane by having sex is one of the sweetest things I’ve ever heard."
I agree about the impact of the S3 opener— it is breathtaking when these two come face to face again. And yes, Shelley does look amazing in Rebound, however she was in fact pregnant in S3, and very much showing at the end of the season, aside from the Bar Bet opening scene, Cheerio Cheers, and the Rescue Me wedding…
Can't really answer— haven't seen the syndicated version in a long time. It's in the DVD and Netflix versions though.
Diane's always pretty hot, but Diane's Nightmare and I Will Gladly Pay You Tuesday tell me sexiest Diane is Aggressor Diane.
"…brave, brilliant challenge…"— what an apt and lovely description of the Diane years.
Yes, it is not a real triangle because the middle point of the triangle is in no way romantically torn. While Diane appreciates Semenko's art, she's clearly not into him. It's like being a fan of fine food. Doesn't mean you want to get with the star chef.
Yes. Seconded in full.
Absolutely heartbreaking to see it blow up like that. There's a certain element of hope in a mismatch like Sam and Diane— a "love conquers all" thing— and when it falls apart so ugly, it's painful to watch on many levels, especially when you really love both characters separately and together.
I was furious with him in part 1. Talk about some "wow" moments. By part 2, I was positively gobsmacked. Run, Diane, run!!!
Totally agreed. S4 is awesome, and honestly, I put it right up there with my beloved S2 in many ways. I love what they evolve into as a result of S3, and I think that were Shelley Long not set to leave in S5, they could have gone on S4-style for a long time and made me very happy.
The thing about these episodes that really struck me was how changed Sam was. Not that there weren't hints and clues throughout the season about where he was headed, but wow, is he a bastard here. He moves their normal give and take to an entirely new and dark place, and it is chilling. He starts off with a pretty…
The final scene of this episode illustrates like nothing else my feeling that Coach and Diane are the heart and soul of this show. They are diametric opposites in most ways, but each wear their hearts on their sleeves, and are the most vulnerable of the Cheers lot. Their relationship is endearing, and both together…
Watched live, and while it wasn't shocking that their relationship was very rocky, it was shocking that it ended the way it did. I always thought that this was their dynamic— up and down, hot and cold, but ultimately their passion for each other would overcome their differences. You kind of assumed that as messy as…
Diane is the resident defender of the underdog, and I love her for it. As pretentious as she can be, she's the one who always steps up, whether it's for Carla, Norm, Sam, Cliff— whoever, and aside from Sam, I've rarely (if ever) seen the favor returned. Without her, the bar would eat itself. It's one of the reasons…
Nick/Diane are my A/U ship. They are golden together.
Meredith and I are of the same mind on Exes. I think that kiss was sad, but not because of any wistful feelings for Carla. It's sad because Carla or not, Sam kissed another woman while committed to Diane, and Carla took Diane's sweet gesture and crossed a line with it. Neither one of them did right by a good woman,…
One of my favorite moments in the whole series is in "Personal Business" when Sam says he's going to take Diane in the back and teach her some obedience. Their reactions to that line are hilarious, each doubling over, equal parts amused and turned on and thoroughly giddy at the very thought. One can imagine they…
I am endlessly amused by what she was watching on that little TV:
Guy: So tell me, where did you get a tan like that? Were you in the sun or something? Gal: My tan? What are you talking about? Look at your tan! Guy: I love the sun. You know, I couldn't live where there wasn't any sun. Gal: Oh, I know. I don't know…
