I guess I'm just not too surprised. Handheld/Mobile gaming seems to be the big thing right now so I can see how Sony came to the decision to have Japan's launch later. Same for MS.

Software sales are very important though and if there's nothing specifically for the Japanese market to sell the system then there is no point in launching their first. They want good launch and software sales.

Is everyone really surprised that Japan is getting the PS4 later? Up until now, every announcement and every major event for PS has been targeting the Western market. Console gaming just isn't big in Japan anymore so it's not surprising that it is no longer a priority, regardless of Japan being Sony's home country.…

Are people really getting bothered by these jabs at the competition? This isn't new as far as console wars go. Have people really forgotten all of the shots MS took at Sony last gen? Or how about the shots Sega took at Sony around the PS2 launch?

I don't think that planning ahead for a day one software patch is evidence that mass production has started yet. MS has said that patch has always been planned and probably because they already have expectations for what will and will not be ready by the time they start manufacturing.

Have you seen the inside of this thing? It has a huge fan, a lot of space, and a lot of vents so it should stay cool enough. I was about to say the same thing though I still think it's news like the PS4 release estimates. Not that it's unlikely but before the release date announcement for PS4 we where seeing several dates from people who work in similar positions at retail that ranged from October 21 to Early December.

You're right. At least in interviews they've been marketing the game as that second game you pick up for the rest of the family. It's doesn't look like it's meant to be a system seller and I wouldn't be surprised if a few months after launch it ends up on PS+.
