This seems like an oversimplification. Everyone knows Saint Dick wasn’t canonized in spite of his thievery; he was canonized because of his thievery. When he wore five pope hats at once, the Roman Catholics at first recoiled, and then realized they were seeing the true face of God, which we now regard as always

I hadn’t realized they said that, which is pretty cool. Kind of a hostile comment, though, don’t you think?

Not sure I like that, either. I really enjoyed the petty squabbling between families based on their powers, like, if I remember correctly, the utter distaste between Gert’s time traveling parents and Stein’s tech ones.

I’m not sure Justice League can be blamed on Whedon, but I’d put his script for Wonder Woman below all of those.

GERT: Maybe we should consider a LARPing scenario. (Group looks confused.) Live-action role-play?

P.S. Very much enjoy Gert’s lullaby from the end of episode 2 being used as background music in the funeral scene.

Is it just me, or is Alex Wilder way more genial in this show than he is in the comics? Maybe it’s been a while since I read the series, but it’s hard to see this particular Alex do Alex’s Defining Comic Book Event on camera.

Runaways was the first comic book series I ever really got into, aside from some issues of Spider-Man Magazine (the kids’ periodical, not an actual floppy). So suffice it to say I was and still am very, very excited about this series.

That Guggenheim tweet is not at all what I expected, by which I mean it’s far, far more idiotic.

Well, it’s about goddamn time.

Did anyone catch that Yao Fei reference? If that was thirteen years ago, our man Yao was on the island for way more years than Ollie has a right to complain about.

It honestly amazes me that that outfit came from Qix, and is therefore almost a viable defense if that particular costume is ever accused of cultural insensitivity.

I can’t remember where else it’s happened, but that last shot of Mario commiserating with a too-depressed-to-show-his-face Bowser really charmed me. It reminds me of the great Neil Gaiman’s “A Black and White World” from Batman: Black and White (free on Comixology), of all things, where Batman and Joker are just

It’s great to see indie games getting so much exposure on the Switch. They’re games that I probably could have played elsewhere earlier, but are just so much more accessible on Switch, especially as I don’t spend a lot of time on the PC after being in front of a screen at work for 8+ hours a day at work. Definitely

I think the author underplays how drastic death is in this game. Sure, there’s a way to revive characters, but it requires 300k gold and 10 rare materials, of which I managed to acquire over quite a few hours. I handed the Switch over to a little sister and it returned with four dead. I’ve only revived one so far.

Minecraft really leans into that fear of the unknown the more you play it. I haven’t done anything complex—just wandered around, raised some chickens and fallen into the Nether a few times—but things really get buck wild. The first time an Enderman teleported into my house I jumped two feet in the air. And don’t get

The incredible Darwyn Cooke graphic novel adaptations of Parker are cinematic enough for me. Check them out if you haven’t already. Very highly recommended.

Always nice to read something from you, Sean, even if it’s a post about how much you hated something High School Pupper found so profound, he had dreams about it. Kidding—this is one of the better examples of someone giving anime a fair shake. Although I do have to shake my head at the inclusion of Bubblegum Crisis...

Thanks for the recommendation. I find it hard to keep up with anime because of the veritable firehose of it every season... and while I once could spend hours reading impressions in anime blogs, I don’t have the time anymore. I’ll check out Tsuki ga Kirei with the girlfriend and maybe give Little Witch Academia

The real draw for a lot of folks was the Szechuan sauce poster. Only one was distributed to each participating McDonald’s, and they’re literally hand numbered at an edition of 1,000. And yes, they ARE going for ludicrous prices on eBay (well over 1k USD at last check).
