Crunch is just awful. I’ve had a number of friends start at mobile gaming companies and end up at places like Apple, which itself is notorious for crunch. They even considered it an improvement, which says a lot about the unhealthy state of the videogames industry.

Well, this comments section has certainly lived up to the bastion of intelligent discourse I expect from the A.V. Club.

It’s one province in China.

I’m pretty sure this article is also for laughs.

Crazy Rich Asians is such an interesting point. Admittedly, I haven’t read the book series—are their backgrounds important to the story? If they are, for sure I would see Awkwafina as kind of a weird casting choice. Even if, well, I think it’s about time she gets some mainstream recognition.

I know almost nothing about Star Trek except that TNG played in the background for most of my childhood, but I’m here for Michelle Yeoh.

Honestly, reading this piece and I’m sure future interview pieces made me feel for the first time that I was on the AV Club again. So, uh, I guess you CAN go home again.

Seeing these adjectives describe Jay Baruchel is starting to make me suspicious that I’m both insufferable AND pretentious and somehow think these things are good qualities and oh god where’s the nearest wood chipper

Yeah, I mean, it matters when it matters and it doesn’t when it doesn’t. If I’m making a biopic about George Takei, I’m definitely going to try and find a Japanese guy, because the man is Nisei to the core. But if I’m making a film about a Korean American man whose identity is not necessarily tied to his Korean

Oh yeah, of course! I’m totally not advocating against inter-ethnic casting in all cases. I love John Cho as Sulu, for instance. I just mentioned it because in all the articles I read about this particular case, the character’s Japanese heritage seemed to be a focal point. That said, I’m not terribly familiar with the

Nice! Kudos to him. Man, it feels icky to be picky, especially after Skrein stepped out so gracefully, but since so much of the highlight was on the fact that Skrein was playing a Japanese American character, I was hoping they would spring for a Japanese American actor. I guess I’ll take what I can get, though, which

I never thought I’d live to see the day when A.A. Dowd became A. Dowd. Shame it had to be on Kinja, because this post deserves more comments.

I know Kinja considers the number of replies to a comment as an indication of quality, but this comment is an example of why that metric is so flawed. I can’t believe this drivel is the first comment to appear on the article.

I only just read his Swamp Thing issues after reading his foreword to the Alan Moore stuff. Wish I’d gotten to meet him. RIP.

You must be new.

Like all other reviews of this show that I haven’t seen but intend to defend recklessly, this one is clearly paid for by DC and possibly Soros! What are you gonna do with all that money, McLevy? Buy some decades-old Runts from those barbershop vending machines?

It kind of sounds like you didn’t read Velops’. The buttons are one thing. The stat complexity is a whole other thing entirely.

I remember reading about Argonaut in your book. They must be over the moon.

Forty cents? I had to replace my copy of DKR for 20 bucks. But it was either that or be forced to ask my ex to give my N64 back, so ...

Honestly, I think everyone would love for more light to be shed on Hera and Kanan’s relationship, but there’s no way Disney is going to have anything more than a peck on the cheek happen in what they consider a kids show that just happens to involve one of the biggest IPs on the planet.
