I wish I hadn't gotten spoiled for Manu's return, but I really do wonder what they had to give him to get him to come back. Knowing Manu's distaste for the Shado-obsessed, Mirakuru-addled supervillain Slade eventually became, and hearing Manu say he wouldn't come back unless they really did right by Slade, I'm excited

I think the best part about Tales from the Borderlands is that pretty much every decision is a low-stakes, do-what-you-want kind of thing, whereas in The Walking Dead every decision is an exercise in "which caricature do I like slightly more than the other?".

It may be a kid's show full of weird filler episodes with bad writing, but I'm still gonna miss this show.

It's been a long time since I've watched anime in theaters (oh, who am I kidding— I saw the Dragon Ball Z flick last year, for the same reasons I saw the Power Rangers flick this year), but Your Name was a fantastic choice tonight. It's full of beautiful animation, absolutely staggering stuff. And for once that most

Yikes. That sounds awkward.

Really great article that made me immediately look up if there was a Penzeys or Spice House near me, since for some reason I'm totally unfamiliar with them. What's the relationship between Penzeys Spices and Spice House? Is Penzeys Spices a franchising of Spice House … or what?

I had a friend who went to clown school here in the Bay Area, and became a no-kidding incredible acrobat in the process. He does shows for Cirque du Soleil now, when he's not posting how-does-the-body-even-do-that Facebook videos.

Funnily enough, the smell of actual sewage flings me back to the streets of Taipei every time, giving me the uncanny feeling of being turned on by sewage. It's almost exactly like the end of Ratatouille, where the critic takes his first bite and is sent into a nostalgic hallucination.

For some reason, your note about "two kids who duelled on Naboo" immediately made "Jack and Diane" start playing in my head, except it's a little ditty 'bout Ben and Darth Ma~aul.

Maybe I have a low bar for entertainment, but I saw this tonight and, well, aside from Ms. Watson's vocals (which were fine, but not Broadway, or even off-Broadway), I thought the whole film was still rather charming! I especially enjoyed the more fleshed-out romance, with Belle reducing the Stockholm syndrome by

This seems like something you've been holding in for a while.

That's a way more nuanced and better thought than I could have put together myself. Nice.

I didn't really enjoy Yang's work on Superman too much, mostly because the gee-whiz dialogue gave me some severe cognitive dissonance with the imminent threat of Superman's identity being revealed (and, you know, the world ending), but Yang seemed to rein it in a little with New Super-Man, to the point where I think

I'm one of those kids who grew up with the Star Wars prequels. My dad had watched them in theaters, and tried to get me to watch the VHS box set of the original trilogy, but it didn't take until Episode II had come out and my dad told me Boba was in the older films, too.

Ahhh, okay. For some reason I thought you meant he played all the way to when you could actually enter the Forest Temple. Which would have been extra impressive.

I'm pretty sure Mido blocks the entrance to the Great Deku Tree until you've picked up both the Kokiri Sword and the Deku Shield?

It's to the point where I assumed that the doctor's note about Mrs. Baker's MRI, which is in Grandma's Room (the only instance that I can think of where her being referred to as "Grandma"), was for Eveline, rather than Marguerite. A great piece of obscurement.

How did he get past Mido without the Kokiri Sword? I'm pretty sure that was supposed to be a stopping function. Unless you can backflip over him or something …

I own EO1 and 4, but it wasn't until Persona Q that I really ended up digging deep into it, and fell head over heels for DIY mapping. Something something high schoolers exploring anime dungeons, I guess …

In middle school P.E., I traded my P.E. teacher Donkey Kong Land 3 for his copy of The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening, after I informed him that the Game Boy Color version would be coming out soon. Even so, I'm pretty sure I got the better deal out of that trade.
