I was genuinely surprised by how much it affects me when I watch it. I got my father onto it and he literally just watches and rewatches the seasons when he’s feeling blue. There is something about watching that five person tornado of positivity, belief, strength and kindness that is so very healing.

I knew someone exactly as you described.  He was a teacher, mentor and friend to me and lost his battle with this terrible disease.  I am thankful every day that science has given us more hope for those who are positive but it still breaks my heart that my dear friend never benefitted.

Watching Queer Eye is always a boost to my mental health. Whenever I’ve been binging it, I hear him in my head as I’m getting ready, chearing me on, and it gives me such a lift.

It makes me so sad that there were probably so many bubbly JVNs in the 80s and early 90s who got the same news at 25 and didn't live to see 30. Thank goodness (science) for HIV/AIDS research.

He did say that. But again, that whole “think for yourself” stuff feeds into Candace Owens’ bullshit, and then you see dumbfucks on Twitter posting the hashtag “#blexit”, and try to manipulate African Americans into thinking there’s this great psychological renaissance happening because of Donald fucking Trump...?

He recently spoke during an interview about how black people should arm themselves to the teeth. He did it under the context of “black people should have the means to defend themselves from crazy white people”.

I am usually 100% with Mike but you are right about this, he really annoyed me on this one. That 7 years after the Civil War comment as especially galling

No, he actually didn’t. He seriously fucked up this time, in his never-ending quest to “both sides” the shit out of everything.

She won. Her ideas and thoughts were dumb, but she increased her profile and that allows her Conservative grift to go on. This is the same person who won a discrimination lawsuit against her high school. She knows about discrimination and our history in this country.

NYT has some great investigative journalists and a lot of other great professionals, but their access journalists and their editors and social media people are, well, misguided is a nice way to describe it.

That is kind of how it feels to me. I really don’t want to brush it away and let her off completely, but as a 20 year old, being managed by older men who understood the industry, it’s hard to pile all the blame at her door

I find it hard to fault young up and comers, especially in a time where we weren’t as educated as we are today, for saying stupid things. It sounds like Pink was trying to brush it off and stuck her foot in her mouth.

I also think Pink’s longevity proves that her success doesn’t boil down to any particular gimmick. And those early songs hold up.

Also, “slightly different” my ass. She looked like an entirely different person.

TBH,I get the impression that most people liked her as she was,and that unlike other actresses who feel that they need to get work to keep up or keep getting roles, that she was perfectly fine as known,so it was noticeable to see this familiar face...not be as familiar I guess.

Everything you said 100%!

That anecdote struck out to me as odd as well, adding nothing to the story and yes, this is very much a piece more about how she felt inadequate.

I clicked on it to understand what I was missing. I started skimming it because it was boring. Then I went back and read most of it because it was making me yawn and I have bad insomnia tonight.

First of all: who.

First time saying this: thank god I’m too old to give a shit.
