Jays fan here....I think it sucks more in the immediate aftermath. However, once you take a step back and look at the season as a whole, it makes for a much better summer when the team is competitive, fun to watch and playing meaningful baseball in September/October. .

Coming that close when everything’s stacked against you: small payroll, not huge superstars, is far more excruciating than simply going out every year and being in last place by July. It sucks a lot more to get close and be heartbroken.
