You are not wrong about this. That’s been the biggest reason the NHL hasn’t allowed it. Balsile tried to bring one to Hamilton and was told no for this reason. And possibly because the NHL hates him.

The 2nd team in Toronto debate is a fun one. The reason I think they would succeed is because seeing a Leafs game costs roughly as much as a luxury car. A new team, preferably outside of downtown Toronto, could give an opportunity for a lot of people who can’t afford Leafs tickets.
I see nothing wrong with it.
Dele Alli can do no wrong in my eyes. Back off FIFA. COYS
Gotta beef up that LinkedIn page somehow.
Very true, but also only lost something like 35% of them. His SV% is pretty elite compared to other goalies who played a massive amount of games, and was on worse teams than many who rank around him. If Cujo isn’t going to make the Hall, then very few goalies will. Not everybody is Roy or Hasek.
Good goalie on bad teams who has the 4th most wins in NHL history. Just because he wasn’t stellar in his couple of years in Detroit doesn’t say much about his career (most of which was not played in Detroit).
Osgood was solid, and had a great career, but benefitted greatly from being on the Red Wings. Cujo never benefitted from a team whatsoever, and put up better numbers. I strongly feel like this is Cujo’s year. If Osgood makes it in before him, I quit.
Today has got to be Cujo’s day. Please do the right thing and vote Cujo in.
I think they see that upside in Murphy being very high, so I don’t think they feel like they made a bad move. If they’re right, which they have been a lot recently, then great move. I wouldn’t value Murphy that highly from what I’ve seen, but it’s always hard to tell with young defensemen.
No, it gets punished for offering those players contracts like the ones it’s given to Kane, Toews and Seabrook. Everybody is playing under the same cap.
Chayka is killing it in Arizona.
This is a post from somebody who has not seen Murphy play (can’t blame you, watching the Coyotes is miserable). Murphy has high upside, lots of tools, etc., but to say he is as good or better than Hammer is as inaccurate. Murphy was the worst defensemen on one of the worst teams in the league, and if he doesn’t…
Couldn’t protect Rychel and Leipsic, so it doesn’t really matter.
They’re actually well over the cap. This saves them from having to get rid of much more than they have to now.
And XO couldn’t be? I think he’s got more potential than anybody in the Wings’ pipeline, and he’s going to LV for even less than Legwand.
I don’t think it’s very likely they lose Mrazek. Fleury is almost a certainty tomorrow night, and there are better young goalies available to Vegas, that are on teams with less appealing options available at other positions. I think XO will be on his way to Vegas. Mrazek will remain in Detroit.
Yes. Most players do. The difference between the great teams and the ones that don’t make it are the ones where the players do develop into those top level players. Even Toews and Kane were a shadow of their peak game when they first got into the league. Past successes don’t always guarantee the future, because…
We will see how DeBrincat adapts to the NHL game. I hope he works out, because he’s really fun to watch, but if there’s ever a type of player to worry about, it’s a guy like him.
What young talent in the pipeline? Not trolling, serious question. Every Hawks fan I know (my family are mostly Hawks fans) is concerned about the lack of talent outside of their NHL squad.
