As I’ve grown older, actually, I’ve become less tolerant of what I don’t like. Every now and then I try again but alas, my taste remains the same. My parents were good cooks that always used a lot of varied veggies. So I’d say the biggest positive change was going from fruit being ‘meh’ to actually really enjoying it.

If you’re going to base your arguments on linguistics, at least be accurate. Germanic languages didn’t split from ‘Romance’, which are the languages that split from Latin. Proto-Germanic split from Indo European as did Latin.

I think it can be racist, as well as a telenovela, but yes. It mostly discusses US media, even! If there’s a racist tradition this is part of, it’s... well, telenovelas.

No. While the term ‘Latinx’, especifically, is a mostly US thing (because we’re either Latin American or our specific nationalities), but the more general argument about a gender-neutral language is an on-going debate that includes all Spanish speakers (although you’d have to Google ‘lenguaje inclusivo’) and wasn’t

It’s not an American thing. ffs. Just google any Latin American feminist demonstration of the last few years - it’s really, really not.

Nah. El uso de la -x lo propusieron un par de españolas y el lenguaje neutro lo usan bocha de latinoamericanes. La cosa de ES SOLAMENTE DE YANQUIS!! es una taradez que ignora el debate interno acá.

Okay, you’re right, I wasn’t clear - Captain America, as written by Mark Gruenwald, who was apparently supposed to not have killed anybody in WWII. Somehow.

I know, dude. I actually dislike MCU-fied 616 Tony. I haven’t read much IM past Fraction, even.

I think moving the stakes away from ‘will they save Earth’ - which we knew they would - to ‘WILL THEY LIKE EACH OTHER?’ really makes the movie work.

(Which I think often doesn’t work. Tony’s quips without RDJ’s charisma don’t land as well.)

616!Tony can be pretty funny - but he’s more of a ‘dry joke before I die’ kind of guy.

Not really. The AoU suit is a take on the TFA one, the CW suit is pretty much the same except with less white/red accents, the IW suit is the CW suit dyed black and with the star torn off because Steve Rogers likes drama.

As I like to always say, the Avengers were so B-list that they managed to sell the rights to Namor and not to them.

MCU!Steve has never actually had the weird ‘no kill’ code 616!Steve has.

I think that’s a big issue with discussion of Marvel. General audiences understand action movie shorthand. They don’t need that much help.

Yes, the last time I rewatched I actually was really surprised about how a lean, efficient machine this movie is.

I don’t think that’s really an issue. I was a first time watcher who had seen none of the movies nor read the comics and I got it just fine. The scene with Natasha actually establishes all you need to know - she works for Spy Eyepatch Guy, she’s good at manipulation, she can trash those Russkies. We all know the Hulk.

Uh, meanwhile, my attitude was ‘the novels are so terrible, this show is actually an improvement!’.

Turns out he’s pretty different when you let him talk!

At no point did I say it was unexpected. Or complained, for that matter.
